Moistown Excavation Open Day

Open day for interesting local archaeological excavation.

When: to July  2018
Where:Part of Pattiland Farm, Broadwoodkelly, Devon (NGR: SS6276 0562)
Who:ACE Archaeology Club

Some notes from ACE's secretary Erica Williamson:

We have been working on the Moistown site for 5 years now and we are slowly uncovering the house that used to stand on this sheltered and secluded spot. We believe it be a mediaeval farmhouse. So far we have uncovered the remains of walls, cobbled floors and thousands of pieces of pottery, including at least one piece that has been identified as Saxo-Norman!

As you may know we normally open our site to the public for the Council for British Archaeology’s Festival of Archaeology in July.  Unfortunately the CBA are not supporting the festival this year so we hope to offer a Super Open Day instead with some living history, as well as the chance to catch up with what we have been doing and meet the diggers.

To find out more about the excavation do have a look at our website. We will be updating our website and Facebook page with information as the day gets nearer. We look forward to seeing you there. There will be tea and cake available and something for children to do.
